What to expect from therapy sessions

A counsellor who works with women who have struggled with disordered eating and body image.

Our work together isn’t about fixing you. It’s about remembering who you truly are beneath the layers of coping, self-judgment, and survival strategies.

If you’ve spent years using food to soothe, numb, or manage life, and if your relationship with your body has been marked by shame or struggle, you’re not alone. These patterns didn’t appear out of nowhere. They’ve served a purpose and we’ll honour that.

In our sessions, we won’t be talking much about food itself. Instead, we’ll explore the you that’s been hiding underneath it all. The part of you that is wise, whole, and deeply aligned with your true nature. But we’ll also gently turn toward the parts of you that have felt lost, fearful, or unworthy. The shadow parts that needed food as a way to cope.

This is sacred work. It’s not about getting rid of anything. It’s about meeting all of who you are with compassion and curiosity, so you can live more fully from your essence, not from old patterns.

We will use whatever helps us connect more deeply to your inner world. You don’t need to perform, explain, or justify. Just bring your whole self. That’s where healing begins.

The Values That Guide My Work as an Integrative Transpersonal Counsellor

A focus on wholeness – Our work isn’t just about easing distress. It’s about helping you reconnect with the deeper parts of yourself so you can live in a way that feels more grounded, authentic, and true to you.

All of you is welcome – Body, mind, emotions, and soul are all part of the journey. I don’t see symptoms as problems to “fix,” but as meaningful signals pointing us toward healing and understanding.

A flexible approach – Every person is unique, so I draw from a variety of methods and tailor them to what works best for you. I also bring in my experience as an addictions counsellor, my time as a coach in a wellness clinic, my years of practice, and my training as an integrative transpersonal counsellor. All of this comes together to support you in the way that fits best for where you are right now.

Creativity and insight – Sometimes healing shows up through conversation, and sometimes it comes through dreams, imagination, symbolism, or moments of expanded awareness. These creative ways of knowing can open doors that words alone can’t.

Honouring the spiritual – For many people, growth and healing are deeply connected to meaning, purpose, or a sense of belonging that goes beyond the individual self. If this resonates with you, there’s space for that here too.
